Example #2 under Cost Basis of Property is the Assets Reading Assignment, it states that Capital Distribution reduces cost basis and any excess if the cost basis is considered capital gain. Can anyone explain this concept.
Also, when searching online, there is nothing about capital distribution, only capital gain distribution. So, what would be the difference between capital gain and capital distribution (which doesn't seem to exist) or capital gain distribution (if this is actually what it is).
